What are VR Games?
Virtual reality games, or VR games for short, are video games that can be played with a virtual reality headset.
These headsets are worn over the head and on the face like a pair of goggles attached to consoles or computers.
The headsets allow players to fully immerse themselves in the game as they use their hands and body movement to interact with the game’s environment and characters.
VR games are available for many platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Some VR games can be played solo, while others are designed for multiple players who may be located in different places around the world.
1. Last Dive
Last Dive is one of the most unique VR titles supported by the Oculus Rift, and it’s a very different experience from many other VR games.
It’s a full-body game that requires a lot of physical movement and has plenty of controller inputs, but it also has an immersive and intense story.
You’re playing as an immigrant returning to his home country for his father’s funeral, which means you’ll be making heavy decisions about your past.
But Last Dive will also have you stand up from your chair or sofa and walk around the room to make certain decisions if you have enough space.
Experience aside, Last Dive features some stunning artwork with a beautiful color palette ranging from bright whites to deep blues that highlight the depth of the watery world you’re exploring.
Plenty of puzzles tie into the story in some ways, but they’re not too tricky despite having you do some unusual things like moving rocks with your mind or even creating black holes.
If there were any criticism we’d give this title, it would be how short it feels—you could finish it in just two hours—but it’s still worth playing through multiple times while its price is low! This is one of the best VR games.
2. Apex Construct VR Game
Apex Construct is a narrative-driven action game set in a post-apocalyptic future.
You play as a robot who awakes in a weirdly empty yet lush world, where you’re tasked with repairing things left broken by some sort of apocalyptic event.
The story has you hunting down clues to your character’s past while ducking and weaving your way through the bowled-over remnants of civilization, shooting at bad robot soldiers who want to kill you, and trying to fix up humanity’s wreckage along the way.
But before that storyline starts eating up too much of your time, Apex Construct gives you plenty of space to learn how to use your bow and arrow for combat and other weapons like a shield and an energy sword.
This is especially important because the controls take some getting used to—the PSVR controller’s thumbstick controls movement (which isn’t always ideal) and several menus onscreen that can be distracting.
Still, Apex Construct becomes remarkably playable once you get the hang of it all. It doesn’t hurt that its science-fiction environments are full of puzzles and exciting things to find off the beaten path. This is one of the best VR games.
3. Moss VR Game
Are you a fan of 3D platformers? How would you like the one that puts you into the world and gives you a mouse companion to guide the way?
That’s precisely what Moss offers; you play as Quill, a young mouse, on an adventure to save her uncle.
You both explore a fantasy world, solve puzzles, and defeat enemies. Even though Quill is small, she’s mighty!
But she can’t do it alone! You control Quill directly but use your abilities as a reader to help her by moving objects in the environment and giving her commands.
This is usually accomplished by looking at specific items or areas of the map until they’re highlighted in blue.
Then your character will move them for Quill automatically. You’ll need all of your skills to help her on this quest; luckily, there are lots of hidden secrets for you to discover along the way. This is also one of the best VR games.
4. Beat Saber
You control the saber with your hands, one on each side of you. You use the grip buttons on each controller to slash at the blocks that fly towards you in time to the music.
If you slice them correctly and in time, you get points added to your score. If you miss or slice them incorrectly, then points are subtracted from your score. Some obstacles need to be avoided by dodging or jumping over them.
There are over a dozen different songs made for Beat Saber, but other people can create custom songs and share them through free websites such as BeastSaber and ScoreSaber.
These custom songs can be downloaded into Beat Saber so long as they don’t contain copyrighted material (which is why some famous artists like Panic! at The Disco aren’t represented yet). Beat Saber is also one of the best VR games.
5. Superhot VR
Superhot VR (available for PSVR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive) is a virtual reality game where players interact with the environment to defeat enemies.
By moving around in real life, you’ll be able to dodge bullets and other projectiles as they come your way, according to The Verge.
“Superhot VR is so good that I’ve spent weeks now trying to find reasons not to give it 10/10,” reads their review.
“It’s not perfect—there are small issues with tracking in some games that I’m sure will be patched out over time—but it’s still one of the best things you can do in virtual reality right now.” Superhot VR is also considered one of the best VR games.
6. Star Wars Vader Immortal
- Star Wars: Vader Immortal
Star Wars fans have a lot to be excited about this year. In addition to the release of The Rise of Skywalker, next year will also bring a brand-new experience with Star Wars: Vader Immortal.
This first-person adventure will allow you to live out your Jedi fantasies as you complete training under Darth Vader on Mustafar.
On this fiery planet, Anakin Skywalker was maimed and changed into the villainous Sith lord we know him as today.
With lightsaber combat and Force powers at your disposal, you’ll take on enemies in various locations that span three episodes, as well as an exclusive bonus dojo level in which you can hone your skills against holographic enemies. This is one of the best VR games.
7. Tetris Effect
Tetris Effect is one of the most popular VR games, and for a good reason: it takes a classic game and brings everything to a higher level.
It’s a puzzle game in which you have to arrange blocks to create full lines, which then disappear. Tetris Effect will feel familiar if you’re playing this type of game regularly.
What makes it unique is that it offers several different modes with gorgeous visuals and a mesmerizing soundtrack.
When playing Tetris Effect, you’ll quickly forget about the things happening around you, as the experience is visually and sonically immersive.
To play Tetris Effect, you need your PlayStation VR headset, headphones, and two Move controllers (included with the PSVR headset).
If you want to play without wearing headphones or using motion controls, that’s also possible by enabling those options in the menus. Tetris Effect is also one of the best VR games.
8. The Room VR
This is a game that will keep you on your toes. It is an intriguing puzzle game, and it has the potential to be one of the best VR puzzle games for people who want a challenge.
The story of this game is compelling, and the graphics are high quality.
Let’s begin with an explanation of how this game works. This game requires a lot of interaction; there are many things that you will have to do to get through this game.
First, you must investigate the room you start in, trying to find clues as to what you should be doing next.
But this is where it gets tricky: whenever you think you have cracked the case, something new happens and throws everything back into disarray!
That feature makes this game stand out from others like it: each time you think that you have solved all of the problems in one room, another door opens up and presents more challenges!
It never truly ends; there does come the point at which your curiosity about just what exactly is going on begins to wane, but that point does not come until after several hours of immersive gameplay. This game is one of the best VR games.
9. Keep Talking, and Nobody Explodes
Imagine a single-player bomb defusal game; only in this virtual reality experience are you both the bomb expert and the person who has to defuse the bomb.
How can this be? Because everyone else is the expert. In Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, you first put on your headset, pick up your Move controllers or Vive controllers, and you are given an “un-defusable” bomb complete with timers, a wire maze on one side, and other IED-like devices.
Your friends are then given access to an online manual that details how to diffuse each device on the bomb.
You must read the descriptions of what you see and listen as they try to guide you through which switches to flip, panels to open, and wires cut before time runs out and boom! Game over!
It’s hilarious, tense, and challenging all at once – just be sure not to have it anywhere near anyone with a heart condition if they’re playing along with you because it gets your blood pumping…
10. Skyrim VR
You’ll want to jump into this virtual reality open-world game. Skyrim VR is an adaptation of the original award-winning PC game, which was released in 2011.
It was a hit then, and it’s still great now! In 2018, it came to the PlayStation VR system allowed players to explore all of the game’s content from a first-person perspective.
Skyrim VR allows you to customize your character by choosing gender, race, and appearance.
As you play through the story, you encounter new people and places along the way and can do as many side quests as you want!
You also can choose how your character fights – with swordplay or magic! Customize your experience by setting up combat difficulty levels that challenge you enough but not too much. This is one of the best VR games.
The best VR games make it impossible to return to regular video games.
The top 10 best VR games are the most popular and best games on the market for your new headset.
These games provide a truly immersive experience and can compete with even the most robust gameplay of regular gaming platforms.
The main reason behind this is that with VR, you’re no longer simply playing a game—you’re in it.
You’re transported to an entirely new reality where you can completely control what’s going on around you and how you interact with it.
This allows for some of the most intense combat experiences and some of the most relaxing, depending on what kind of game genre or setting you to choose to play in.
The best VR titles are making it almost impossible to return to regular video games again (not that there’s anything wrong with that if it’s not your thing).
Nowadays, keeping up with all the latest releases isn’t just about which console has more horsepower or which PC graphics card offers better performance—it’s also about which platform provides players with more engaging gameplay experiences through virtual reality technologies.
And while there will always be those who prefer traditional gaming setups over VR headsets because they don’t really “like” being so immersed in their game worlds 24/7 hours per week, months at a time — but if you want a mind-blowing experience unlike any other, then these ten titles offer just what y’all looking for! So check ’em out already!
