Fast cars are cool. But did you know that racing games can be fun and inspiring?
That’s right—racing games are a great way to relax and even learn some new things. You see, if you’re playing the game with friends or family members, it can be a great way to spend time together—especially if you’re all playing the same game. Racing games also allow you to learn something about different cultures and countries around the world.
Gran Turismo Sport
Gran Turismo Sport is the best PS4 racing game of all time. While it has been criticized for not having enough content, the game’s realistic driving physics, beautiful graphics, and extensive tuning options make it one of the most rewarding titles in the Gran Turismo series.
If you are looking for a more casual racing experience, then we recommend Forza Horizon 4. However, if you want to learn about different types of cars and enjoy an extremely realistic driving simulation, then Gran Turismo Sport is your best bet.
This title features more than 150 cars from various manufacturers as well as more than 60 tracks (some of which were designed with laser-scanning technology). You can test your car set up on three different layouts of each track: circuit variant, driver variant with chicanes, and city layout with traffic cones. The game also features dynamic weather conditions that affect tire traction and grip levels on certain surfaces. Plus, there’s an extensive photo mode where you can take pictures from multiple angles to share them online or save them for later use in other projects such as Photoshop.”
Game description: It was originally released in 2014, but that hasn’t stopped this multiplayer racing game from gaining a devoted player base. Set in exotic locales around the world, Driveclub lets gamers race through Scotland, India, Norway, Chile, and Canada—with multiple tracks available in each location. Developer Evolution Studios added new features to the game after its initial release (including weather effects), but they’re only available to gamers who pay a monthly fee. If you’re looking for a free-to-play PS4 racing game with eye-popping visuals and plenty of content to explore, Driveclub is worth checking out.
Assetto Corsa is the racing game to get if you’re feeling masochistic. It’s received rave reviews from critics and players alike, with some going so far as to call it the best racing game of all time. You may have a hard time remembering Assetto Corsa has a career mode if you spend a lot of time in the game, but that’s because it does something much more important: it gives you the tools to live out your racing fantasies. A huge number of cars and tracks are included, and there are other modes like drift competitions and “hot lap” mode for casual playtime. If you want an authentic driving experience, Assetto Corsa is one of the best bets on PS4.
DiRT Rally is the game that all current rally racers are judged against. Using a realistic physics engine and even more realistic handling, it sends you hurtling along dirt tracks in cars that handle like they’re made of wood.
It can be frustrating at times—the spin-out-of-control/crash-into-a-tree/reset combo will become an all too familiar one—but once you’ve mastered the art of stopping these accelerated missiles on wheels, then DiRT Rally is an absolute joy to play.
It’s not the prettiest racer on PS4 by any means, but its attention to detail when it comes to adding realism means this is one racing game that’s a must for petrol heads and casual gamers alike.
If you prefer to cruise around a track casually, Trackmania Turbo is an ideal racing game for the PS4. The arcade-style racer features over 200 tracks, complete with loops, jumps, and wall rides. You can create your own courses and even share them with other players online, thanks to a robust track editor. If making your own circuit isn’t exciting enough, the game also includes a Double Driver mode where two players drive one car using the controller’s left and right analog sticks, respectively–a fun way to challenge friends. There’s something for everyone with several difficulty settings available, including an extra-hard Master class.
Although not as realistic as some other racing games on this list, Trackmania Turbo is still visually impressive with its bright colors and detailed environments. It’s also got plenty of content that will keep you entertained for hours on end.
Project CARS 2
The second installment in the Project CARS racing simulator series arrived on consoles and PC in 2017, and it’s one of the most realistic driving games you can get your hands on. It features a wide range of real-world cars and tracks to race (or crash) around, each made after their real-life counterparts with care. The game features a day/night cycle, meaning that you’ll be able to race through both sunny days as well as pitch-black nights. Racing fans will also appreciate the fact that Project Cars 2 allows you to practice with any track you like before taking part in an actual race.
Need for Speed Payback
The events take place in the fictional Fortune Valley, which is largely based in Las Vegas, Nevada. As in the previous Need for Speed games, there is a 24-hour day-night cycle and dynamic weather system. The game has an open-world environment. Unlike previous Need for Speed games, Payback features a 24-hour day-night cycle, with each segment featuring different gameplay. For example, police chases take place during the nighttime in the city of Silver Rock, while off-road races happen during the day in Mount Providence.
A new feature called “Setups” allows players to get an advantage by performing skillful maneuvers throughout races to fill up a meter that activates Setups mid-race. There are four types of Setup; race, drift, offroad, and drag which provide advantages such as more nitrous oxide boost or less damage from collisions for a limited time before needing to be recharged by performing more skillful driving actions.
Hi! My name is Ryan, and I’m a video game reviewer. I write reviews of new games and tell you what’s good about them so that you can enjoy them, too. The thing is, some gems aren’t released on time or at all in some countries—and if you can’t find that particular title, your enjoyment of it is going to be limited. That’s where I come in. Below are the top 10 racing games currently available for the PlayStation 4 (PS4). Hopefully, this list will help you find a new favorite, even if it turns out to be one of the PS4’s earlier titles.[/color]
Last week, we looked at the best battle royale games on PC and consoles. Now here are the best racing games on those same platforms.
Wipeout Omega Collection
Wipeout Omega Collection is a remastered collection of Wipeout HD, Wipeout HD Fury, and Wipeout 2048. All three games are futuristic racing games originally released on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The original games were known for their fast-paced gameplay, tight controls, a great sense of speed, smooth graphics, and a pumping soundtrack.
The Omega Collection was released as a PS4 exclusive in 2017 as a way for players to enjoy all of these classic Wipeout games with improved graphics and new features. Players can jump online to race against up to 7 other players from around the world in eight-player matches or play locally in four-player split-screen modes. You can also play single-player campaigns and battle bosses to unlock ships across the different tracks.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best kart racing game you can buy. It’s an excellent game and the best version of Mario Kart 8 yet. The core gameplay is easy to pick up but has enough depth to keep you coming back for more.
Mario Kart is accessible for kids and fun for adults. It’s one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises, and it has a dedicated following around the world.
