AirPods Microphone Not Working? Here’s How to Fix It

If your AirPods microphone isn’t working, there are a few things you can do:

  • Check your AirPods settings. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and tap on the device that appears in the list of connected devices. If you see “Microphone Off” at the top of this screen (as pictured above), tap it and then select “Enable Microphone” to turn on your microphone.
  • Make sure they’re placed correctly in your ears. If they aren’t correctly connected to each other or positioned perfectly in your ears, they won’t function properly either! You should also be aware that you may have damaged one or both speakers during shipping or by use over time. If so, replacing one or both speakers is likely going to solve this issue—but before doing so, make sure it’s not just an issue with connectivity between them because they’re not positioned well enough for proper connection with each other.

Check Your Settings

If you can’t seem to get your AirPods microphone working, there are a few things you should check.

First, make sure that the AirPods are connected and listed in Settings. If they’re not, try connecting them again.

Next, ensure that the microphone is turned on and not muted (you’ll see a red dot on your earbud). To turn it off or on, swipe up from the bottom of your screen where you’d normally swipe down to access Control Center and tap “Bluetooth.” Tap on “My AirPods” and then tap “Turn On Microphone.” You can also use this menu to mute or unmute both devices at once if you like.

Once this has been done, try talking into the microphone by tapping it twice, just like when answering a phone call with Siri or making an adjustment with “Hey Siri” mode enabled but do not wait for any response from Siri before moving on step 3:

Thirdly – check whether there’s an issue with the Bluetooth connection itself by turning Bluetooth off/on (swipe down from the top-left corner using two fingers), then try reconnecting via the pairing procedure again (hold down the center button until the light flashes white three times followed by green once; release the button after hearing chime). You may need to perform another set-up process which involves holding down the center button until the light flashes white three times followed by green once; release the button after hearing a chime, followed immediately afterward by holding down both buttons simultaneously until all lights turn blue before re-releasing them (make sure they’re still plugged into charge port).

AirPods Microphone won’t work if you’re using them incorrectly.

The next time you use your AirPods, take a moment to make sure that you are using them correctly. Make sure the AirPods are perfectly in your ear and not covering the microphone. Make sure you are talking near the AirPods and that they aren’t muted. If these steps don’t work, try restarting your phone or computer to see if this fixes the problem.

Clean your AirPods and Earbuds

To clean AirPods, start removing the left AirPod from its case and gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Then, remove the right AirPod from its case and wipe down that one as well.

Remember: Do not use water or abrasive cleaning products on your AirPods. Such substances can damage their charging ports and headphone jack.

After you’ve cleaned your AirPods with a dry cloth (or simply wiped off any visible dust), be sure to let them air dry before putting them back in their cases so they don’t get moisture trapped inside them!

Reset Your AirPods and Repair

If you run into issues with your AirPods’ microphone, try resetting and repairing them. Resetting your AirPods will remove any pairing settings, so ensure that you have a working Wi-Fi network set up before following the steps below.

  • Open the charging case for your AirPods and remove their battery caps.
  • Close their cases again, then hold down one of the two buttons on each case for about 20 seconds to restart them.
  • Open either of your AirPods’ cases again (you can skip this if only one has been paired). The left one is called “left” in Bluetooth settings, while the right is called “right”—that’s important!

Repairing Your AirPods

If your AirPods microphone isn’t working, the first thing to do is check its water resistance. Apple says that AirPods are designed to be sweat and water-resistant, but they’re not waterproof. That means you should avoid submerging them in water or exposing them to heavy rain and make sure you don’t charge them while wearing them.

If you’re worried about getting your AirPods wet when you don’t want them to be (e.g., when washing your hands), there are a few things worth knowing:

  • You can take them swimming (just make sure the ear hooks stay dry).
  • You can take an AirPod out of its case, use it cord-free for up to five hours on one full charge, and then pop it back into its case while charging.

Make Sure Your AirPods are Adequately Charged.

If a pair of AirPods won’t connect to your iPhone, there are a few things you can try. First, make sure both headphones have enough charge. If they aren’t charging correctly or aren’t fully charged, the issue could be with one or more individual AirPods.

To check the charge on an AirPod, open up the case lid and look at the battery indicator light on each earbud. If it doesn’t show any color (green, orange), put them back in their case or plug them into a power outlet to recharge before trying again to connect them to your iPhone.

Try Restarting your iPhone and its Connections

  • Restart Your iPhone

If you’re using an iPhone, you can try restarting it. To do this:

  • Press and hold the side button until “slide to power off” appears on the screen.
  • Swipe right to turn off your iPhone.
  • Please wait 30 seconds before turning it back on by pressing the side button again (make sure to wait 30 seconds in between each attempt).

Use the Above Steps to fix the Microphone Not Working Issue.

  • Make sure you’ve gone through all the steps on this page.
  • Follow the instructions in order, and make sure everything is plugged in properly (charging cable to AirPods case, case to charging cable).
  • If they still aren’t working, try connecting your AirPods directly to your iPhone or Mac instead of using a Bluetooth connection.
