Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. It’s known for being a place where people can share photos and videos with their friends, family, and followers. But what if you could use Instagram to share more than just pictures? What if there was a way to get the most out of Instagram’s caption feature so that you could write captions that are as engaging as possible? In this article, I’ll show you how to turn on Instagram captions and get the most out of them!
What Are Instagram Captions?
Instagram captions are a great way to add context to your photos and videos. With Instagram Captions, you can add up to three lines of text in the caption box that appears on top of the image or video in an Instagram Story. The first line appears at the very beginning of the caption box; this is followed by two additional lines where you can enter more text or add emojis, stickers, or Hashtags. You can also add a location if you want people who view your story to know where it was taken (for example: “At my favorite coffee shop in New York City”).
Why Should I Use Captions?
Now that you know how to turn on captions, you might be wondering why you should use them.
In short, captioning your videos is a great way to engage with your audience and tell them a story. You can explain in detail what’s happening in the video, or use the caption space to add context and background information on what’s going on. Captions are also useful if you want to teach people something new. Maybe there’s a product or service they might like based on one of your Instagram stories (or an article), so why not include a link? The point is that captions allow you to be creative while still benefitting from their primary purpose which is helping people understand what they’re watching!
Step 1: Tap Your Profile Icon in the Bottom Right
First, you’re going to want to tap your profile icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. You can find it by swiping up from the bottom of your phone and tapping on your profile picture or scrolling down from the top of a feed.
Step 2: Select the Hamburger Menu or Icon With Three Vertical Lines
To get the most out of Instagram captions, you’ll want to make sure they’re enabled. Firstly, open up your app and then locate the hamburger menu or icon with three vertical lines in the bottom right corner. You may have also seen it referred to as an icon that shows a user profile picture with two lines underneath. This is where you’ll find all of your settings for Instagram and this is where we’ll enable our caption feature today!
Once there, tap on “Settings” followed by “Profile” at the bottom of this menu.

How to Enable Instagram Captions for One Video
To add a caption to your video, you’ll need to first select it. You can do this by opening up Instagram and tapping on the camera icon in the bottom right corner. Once you’ve done that, swipe left on any of your stories or posts until you find the one you want to add a caption to.
Once you’ve found your desired post or story, tap on it once so that it opens in full-screen mode (you’ll see an arrow pointing down at the top right corner). You’ll also see three dots there—tap them once and then tap on “Add Caption.”
Tap again when you’re done typing out your caption so that it turns green with an X next to it; if not, tap once again until both icons light up green instead of red before continuing onto Step 3 below!
The takeaway is that this feature is a great tool, and with just a few simple steps you can learn how to turn them on and get the most out of them!
With captions, you can add context to your Instagram post by telling people what they’re looking at or why they should care. This can help give it extra life beyond just being visually appealing content.
As we mentioned earlier, Instagram captions are a great way to be more inclusive and make sure that your videos are accessible to all. You can take advantage of the feature to reach a wider audience, or simply to make it easier for your friends to watch and enjoy your videos no matter if they have their volume turned up or down.
